Issues with Bricksync

Hi, I'm having a few Bricksync issues just lately with the colour Coral (minifig parts). Bricksync reports failed to translate BL Color 220 to BO Color. I know Corol exists on Brickowl but not sure how to tackle this Bricksync error. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

It's possible that the colour list is hard-coded into BS. I haven't seen or heard of the author Stragus in a while so the program may be abandoned and may not be updated. I think the bricksync website has a contact option, perhaps try and email him direct to see if he has a solution?

yes I believe the colour list is hard coded as I had a discussion with Stragus previously about this

As a side note in case @Stragus ever picks this project back up again, transparent light-orange also needs to be hard coded into BrickSync

Does this mean that BrickSync is currently not being supported at all? That would be worrying...

Neither BrickSync or BrickStock are expected to receive any major upgrades or new features, but I believe both do receive fixes for major bugs. Stragus - the author of BrickSync was creating something along the lines of BrickStock that supported both BL and BO, but its years since we heard anything about it. I guess new features of either program are unlikely right now, at least unless someone new takes over the code.

I got an email back from him last week, he is on vacation atm, but confirmed the colors are hard coded and is trying to find time to re-work that.

I see that in the list of colours on BO (https://www.brickowl.com/colors) the LEGO ID is missing. Perhaps a fix here would be helpful.

I just got around to playing with the source code for BrickSync. I have modified the color table to include "coral", and it syncs properly for me.

I only have my own (pretty customized) Linux machine, so I can't provide any compiled versions for others (so no Windows versions, no Mac versions, not even Linux binaries as they will be specific to my machine), but if others have a Windows dev environment and feel adventurous - the only file that needs changing is "colortable.c". You can pick up an updated one here:

That's great news, @qwertyboy ! Can you elaborate where you made the changes? I'm also experiencing snyc errors with some trans-light-orange parts I have, so I guess the file needs another update.

@BigBBricks I'm sorry, I don't have a Windows dev machine. The file I linked to above contains the only changes needed to get coral supported. I am sure there are others with Visual Studio who could compile a new Windows binary. It is simply a matter of replacing the file "colortable.c" in the sources from Stragus with the above linked version.

Hi everyone,

I've successfully compiled a new version that works on Windows (don't know if it's specific to the version/PC it's compiled on - mine is Windows 10 Pro on an AMD FX-4100).

I can upload the updated file for others to try - just be aware there are no guarantees it will work on your version of Windows. Always make a backup of your Bricksync folder first!

Also, many thanks to @qwertyboy for providing the colortable file.

Hi @brickadoon, just downloaded and it works, it's pushed my coral over to Brcickowl. Thanks for that, been a constant niggle. Do you know if trans-light orange is the same issue, my clikits parts in that colour don't translate (BL color 164). Thanks again

FYI, the following colors are the newest from Bricklink's color guide in order from newest added to oldest. I copied the entries down to trans-light orange. The next one after that is glitter trans-neon green and I know that one is already in Bricksync because I have it in my own store inventory.

I've downloaded this file but get an error when I try to run it: 0xc000007b
I'm using Win7 professional.

Hi @Leftoverbricks , are you running the 32-bit version of Windows 7 Professional? If you go into Control Panel/System - it will tell you the System type near the bottom of the screen.

@brickadoon - thank you so much for this! Have now downloaded your updated bricksync file and it's running fine on my win7 64bit machine. Phew!

Can't believe I missed this earlier. Now I don't have to remind myself to check every order for coral parts then manually take them out of my stock (a far too risky strategy given my atrocious memory!).

Any chance you’d take on bricksync for future updates? Paid of course... I’d gladly pay for the service, and imagine I’m not the only one

I don't really get it, what am I supposed to do with the colortable file? I can't find it in my bricksync folder...

It is not a separate file in the bricksync folder. It is a (part of a) file in the uncompiled bricksync code. So you need to have the bricksync source code, find the colortable, change it, compile a new version of bricksync and you can use it.

@brickadoon has done this already for Coral and trans-light orange.

I think there's a new colour on the scene too, Trans-Light Bright Green. I've started to get Bricksync errors, Clikits again.

There are six new color added in 2020 so far:
Trans-Light Bright Green
Clikits Lavender
Dark Nougat
Satin Trans-Light Blue
Satin Trans-Dark Pink
Glitter Trans-Orange

Most of them are only in one or two sets so far. Only the clickits colors are in more sets. But most sellers probably don't have a lot of clickits parts so none of these colors are as big a deal as coral that's already in 63 sets.

@Brickadoon thanks for the upload, finally getting around to updating it and am getting the two error messages "ssleay32.dll & libeay32.dll missing"... any idea on a work around?

How are you updating it? It should just be a case of copying the new file you downloaded into the existing location of bricksync on your PC, and overwriting the bricksync.exe (take a backup of it first!)
