Could you elaborate more. Do you mean you want to describe the colour of the hands and arms of a mini figure? If so, you can put that in the name. The name should uniquely identify an item, so if you need to describe the colour of arms and hands etc to make it unique and that is fine. Any extra information that is not needed and is just helpful can be put in the decoration description field as a comma separated list
I can see I have made this have quite a steep learning curve now. It would probably help if there were more examples in the database.
@admin Maybe just me and my detail obsession/being a newbie but I would love some a page with the questions we have had answers so far and a few examples. Maybe sample screenshots showing what would go in decoration description, etc.
Edited to say: If you want me to compile what has been said so far so you can make a page or annoucement let me know.
I was trying to do a Legends of Chima lion just now and was not sure where to add the extra pieces that make up his assembly (cape, armor, 1 x 1 round tile, etc.)...does those get added to the inventory?
Maybe also something else that would help eliminate duplicates would be a 'submission pending' note on the item edit screen, even maybe showing what the submission relates to, that would help identify if somebody else, or ourselves have already been over an item. Just a thought.
I have 200 some odd names pending, sorry for the load on a busy day, but a few more approvals or rejections will give me some peace in continuing. Even a glance and a "keep going like you are" or "STOP" would be cool.
I can assume because you have not said stop things are good, still it's unsaid and I am investing a significant amount of time in this.
I think many of them I want to put in previous words as tags, or add a few words to them. Generally the format is fine. For example if you rename engine to motor, many people will be used to engine so i go and add the tag
I can go though again and tag like crazy if that helps you out, that is easy for my brain compared to keeping track of information I can't see anymore. If you would rather have it up once and be done I get that too. Your call.
The pattern to go forward with my biggest concern, so thank you.
Time out... you broke up the Technic category? Oh, please put the plates and bricks back in there. There is nothing proprietary about THAT! Even LDraw and Peeron keep them together.
Dimensions in names should be searchable, no need to tag numbers I don't think
I did break up technic, I felt the plates are plates first and technic second, as in someone who doesn't know the system would look in plates. I want to move away from categories based on theme to categories based on type. They can have a theme attached separately if necessary.
Do you build with Technic Bricks and Plates a lot without using the other Technic components? If you want by type, then Znap should be with Technic Beams...
And please rename all the "Key Chain" categories to "Key Chains" or vice versa.
I have non-AFOLs that work for me part time and technic bricks always get tossed in with other bricks when they sort, so I really don't think it's an issue. In the BL world, 1x2 w/pin is "modified brick" but 1x2 w/ pin hole is "technic brick". Here they will be in the same part of the catalog tree. It's all meta information anyway so I'm not worried about customers finding it.
I like some of the cleanup. Parts / Scenery is my favorite new category.

On figs, is it permissible to tag or put in variants: black hands, green arms, etc.?
I often try to identify my used figs in this way when I get desperate.

Should dimensions/numbers be tagged or just key words?
(Are dimensions not searchable now? )
