Admin Xmas Prez 2014
Its almost xmas so its time to collect some ££££s for a prezzie for Lawrence in recognition for his hard work on the Owl .
Last year we collected £112 and purchased a lovely oil painting and a £20 voucher for minifigs.me .
If you would like to contribute then please paypal your donation to [email protected] .
Mark admin prez on the paypal notes and add your name to this thread ( also any ideas for prez ).
We will take donations upto the 2nd November , then we can vote on what to purchase .
Last year the prez didnt arrive in the UK until after xmas , this year we will be prepared .

Do we have a draft list of gift ideas? I also think we could perhaps arrange something for the biggest catalog contributors, their work benefits us all too.

The 4 Spacemen is okay, but somehow last year's present seemed nicer. It would help if any of us knew a little more about Lawrence's personal tastes!

Price really depends on size but the originals start from £75 for one figure ..oil on canvas paper. (Unframed). Approx size 16in x 20in.. Price goes up for more figures and bigger size.
Did you have a particular idea in mind?
I think the price seems fine then. Do we want to commission something, assuming there's enough time, or do we enquire about the price of an existing painting?
We could run a poll among ourselves, make a list of choices and vote? If we want to comission something, we'll have to proceed quickly to be ready for Christmas.
I agree and we already gave a minifig painting last year so maybe something different.
I would suggest a painting of an owl. Maybe this one:

but lighter to be closer in color to the Brick Owl item color.
I couldn't find a high resolution photo of that owl, even less a photo in the proper angle... but we'll need one for the artist. I suggest a viewpoint below the torso's height, looking up to give an impression of might and grandness?
I have the photography equipment but not the owl. Do we have any volunteer to take proper photos? We need a sharp image, close-up, very small aperture, an interesting raised angle... I could just acquire the owl, if people like the idea.
Should we now have some kind of vote? Do we have other good ideas to put in that poll?

Most sellers will sell each one separate in various sizes and some sell them framed.
