A Double Rainbow

I took this photo in my backyard a few years ago - the only "double rainbow" I've ever seen in my life. It's taken a few minutes after it's appearance, so it's not as clear as it could be, but I still smile every time I see this!

Cool! Love the view you've got over there in general. Here's one I saw in my street, actually a triple rainbow, with a very thin third one immediately underneath the purple.

Fab image, another interesting raindow which is more common than people realise is an upside-down rainbow (circumzenithal), I've seen several of these and was pretty stunned the first time I saw one.

Fore sure, I remember the local library and the 20 volume encyclopedia britannica for doing all my research. I thought microfiche was cutting edge when I first used it LOL.

Lol I'm with ya there, Pippyblocks! I remember being so stoked my parents had an encyclopedia set from my older sister, got me through many a school report when I was younger.

Great pic and what a great view too. Have to say I see quite a few double rainbows in Wales - probably because we get so much rain

Lol @WESTIEKATH - here in sunny Southern California, we've had years of on/off drought. This year seems to be pretty good for rainfall though, thank goodness. The jokes about Californians not knowing how to drive in the rain are frequently true, sigh - too many of us forget until after a few days of rain. Then it comes errr flooding back. ;-)

@Calibrick - last time we had a drought (and where I live didn't actually have a drought) was when my daughter was born 1995 - boy was it hot then - well for us it was. We are not used to long spells of heat I shouldn't complain though - yes we have had a of rain but at least my home hasn't been flooded as many homes have in UK
