Design numbers for Tiny Lego Wonders models?

My son is newly into Legos and wants to build a bunch of models shown in the
Mattia Zamboni book called "Tiny Lego Wonders". The pictures and directions
look great, but the major problem is that the book does NOT provide any Lego
design numbers for the various pieces I need! I have no idea how to find the
less common pieces since I don't even know where to start in the catalog.
Anyone know if there is a site that breaks down the various models from the
book with associated design numbers? For instance, he really wants to build
the TGV Bullet Train but I can't find 5 pieces that are required for it.

You are welcome. Once you learn the basic taxonomy you should easily identify the most parts. For instance, the blue part on your list is clearly a 1 x 2 plate. A special plate – it has a hinge. Search for these words: hinge plate "1 x 2" and you will recognize the ones you are looking for.
