Billing address, shipping address,Paypal address all confusing

Just got a reply from a angry customer. I done the quote with is billing address in my software program.

He accept the quote and i did ship to the billing address. Now is complaining that i did ship to the billing address and he won't get there before weeks.
I did assume the billing address was the Paypal address. Now i'm gonna have to check every payment in Paypal and absorb the amount of shipping if there is a difference from the quote. This is not acceptable. There should be only one adress ,Paypal.
Now he can also claim he never received is order since its not the Paypal one.The payment past through Brickowl and should reflect the
Paypal address period.

Just a reminder,at time of quote,we received a Email with billing and shipping address.
I strongly suggest to remove all the address and only keep the Paypal address.

By Paypal rules we have to ship to there Paypal address to be protected and only to that address, not the brother, sister or grandpa.

Even then in last November i received an order on BL and the customer change is address in Paypal between the transaction. He claim he never received is order and the address was wrong. After calling Paypal , they told me the customer change is address after he made payment. This was really a case of abuse buyer. Its simply easy to get claims and to avoid problems it should be easier for use to get the right address the first time.
Thank you

  • I fully agree, it's always difficult with the different addresses. Especially with all the "buyer protection" (not seller protection) at paypal. It would be really great if Brickowl (and the other online platforms) can directly provide in another field the paypal address.

We always double-check the addresse we have received from the online platforms accross the paypal address. If we find a deviation we contact the buyer by email and request them for clarification within 3 days. If no answer receives we send another email, that the goods are shipped to the paypal address.
For the case that they decide to have the goods shipped to another address than the paypal we have to record this email. In a case of a paypal claim I just show the email that the customer has decided to use another address than his paypal address. And it was in the past two times (from two cases) accepted by paypal and paypal has not charged us.
  • I've brought this up several times and been shot down each time. Its confusing for everybody.
  • Is it even possible for an outside vendor to show what a buyer has listed as their PayPal shipping address? This may be more of a problem than it sounds like. PayPal has to make that information available. * IF * it is readily available from PayPal, then absolutely it should be shown somewhere, but if PayPal doesn't make it easy to capture that information then what is a selling platform supposed to do?

I say repeatedly on my terms that I ship to the PayPal shipping address only. I use PayPal's system to purchase shipping and print out my labels so that there is never a question. Honestly, I feel like I have been lucky so far. I have only had 1 order shipped to the wrong address and that is because the person didn't update their PP address when they moved. It was an order to Australia. The package came back to me and I refunded them the cost of the items, but not the shipping charge. They recognized that they had made the mistake and didn't make a stink over it.
