The symbol ~ appears before shipping price.
What does it mean?
And why?

  • Where I work, ~ means "approximately" - I think that's pretty common to indicate that, so my guess is wherever you're seeing that, they're calling that an estimate.
  • Doesn't that occur when you are viewing prices in a different currency, hence the tilde for approximately.
  • yes, correct, as currency exchange is volatile and can change between the moment of filling a cart and checking out. Same goes for fees...

    Look at set #9465, there are three sellers one “request quote” one shows $7.60 and mine shows ~ $13.16

    Also when did the symbol for approximately change from ≈
    AFAIK the ~ symbol means something different in mathematics
  • The tilde has many uses in many different fields, but one of its many uses in mathematics is to signify that what follows is approximate.
