Hello...looking for advice for a friend

Hello, I am looking for some basic advice for a friend who is thinking about setting up a small hobby story to sell off unwanted family lego pieces...does he have to register with HMRC for this as at the moment he is not running as a business, just selling family collection.

also can his username/store name be something different if running as individual or does it have to be his name.

how do you part out sets or add individual pieces to the Brickowl inventory as he is completely new to this and his cousin has asked to sell his unwanted lego.

In the UK it largely comes down to intent. If you're buying specifically to sell then you need to register with HMRC. If you're just selling your own goods, you don't, unless - exceptionally - you're talking about enough Lego to risk hitting the personal capital gains allowance.
