Set Inventory - add "content approved"

Hello,

at the moment I am correcting / uploading some sets from Theme Elves. Background is that my daughter wants to sell her collection.

I compare part by part the correct quantity, color and Design-No. You can imagine that this takes some time. Anyhow I like to invest this time for the community.

But now, nobody can see that I have updated the inventory of a set and that this is now complete and correct.
You cannot use the official piece-count from the header of a set. This is sometimes different to the real quantity (e.g. 41172 official 212 parts, real 208 parts = counted from the instruction inventory and comparison to Bricklink :-)).
My idea is to add a field like "Content approved by user on ddmmyyyy". This will help buyers (to be sure is complete) and sellers (if they part it out) that the set is really completed. And it won't be possible that the last editor of the inventory can approve it - "two eye principles".
And for motivation, Lawrence can maybe spend here also some points for the catalog contribution if someone approves the content.

Do you think this would be a helpful function for the Brick Owl community?

I am looking forward to your feedback and comments.
Regards,
Oliver.

  • I like it and would contribute when possible.

  • A viewable history of changes to the inventory would be helpful in some cases, especially if there is a question as to why certain parts or variations are included (or not).

Given that "official" part counts are known to vary between TLG and the various fan sites (based on our definitions of "part"), it might be difficult to unequivocally state that the inventory is "complete". A history of the changes might include a statement from the last contributor (e.g. "I believe that all included parts are in the inventory" or "all parts except string are now included") or something like that.

I've been updating inventories of some of my older sets, and I habitually include notes to Lawrence about what I've changed in that session (even though it's usually apparent). If that note field were formalized, it could be used as a "revision block" or similar history of the change in inventory for that set/assembly/minifigure. I'd be open to anything in this regard.
