Old style/new style helmets.

can someone advise me how I can tell the difference in the old and new style helmets mainly used for space figures. Am I correct in thinking the new style is more rounded and the sides of the old style straighter - this is all too confusing for me :))

Yes, that nailed it... the old style have distinctly more "straight" sides than the newer helmets - also, a thinner chin strap if memory serves. I figured it out based on images here, Brickset, BL, etc.

correct for the "straight" sides of the old helmets. However, there are different versions of these old helmets: with thin chin strap and with thick chin strap. And they exist with and without visor dimples
