Once upon a time I had a shop on the bay. Not Lego. CD's. What else is an ex DJ to do? Like this, it was pocket money but I enjoyed it. Then FatBay increased store charges so much I'd have to pay 3 x as much for a lot less. It was goodbye FatBay.
Years of withdrawal went by until my son became the magic Lego allowed age of three. I'd largely forgotten about Lego. I'm an OLD (late to having kids type of parent) and the bricks were 30 years buried in my memory.
However, a blind bag was all it took and seeing my boys face had no value less than the love you have for your child.
It was my new drug - my new thing - seeing my son excited about Lego, helping him build rubbish things and totally amazing things. Turns out I'm totally awesome at spaceships! Other than the satellite I once built, really hopeless at real world stuff.
One day the lad couldn't finish building something because he was missing pieces. I bought from Lego's own site. A few times but the price per part ratio made no sense. I soon found that other site but it looked like it may have been left on a server by mistake back in 1994.
Shortly, after google threw up alternative AFOL websites, I was face with the cleanliness of Brick Owl.
I purchased. Several times. And the service was great! But... That seller's withdrawal started kicking in again.
I needed to start selling again but this time, the plan was to sell enough Lego, to make enough profit to keep my son in new sets 4, 5 times a year.
They all said where I should go to do this but when I went, it was still 1994 in that place. Postage? Oh!! Like that?! Really??!!
Why was everyone telling me this is the place? It's like a room with too much signage that your brain switches off and without a fully functional brain I can't navigate my way out of a bag let alone this thing from the dial up era! Sorry to be so brutal. It's an opinion and a constructive criticism.
There was only one other place to check out. Back to Brick Owl. Which was shiney, clean, modern, navigable and SHIPPING OPTIONS!
Now we were not in this for some kind of big business hopes & dreams thing. The original plan remains. For the most part, with patience, and dedication to great service, that is what happens and thanks to BrickOwl, the withdrawal symptoms had vanished and we all live happily Lego after.
