money orders

Hi

I have money orders setup as a payment method on my shop ( didn't realise until today ), I have had someone buy something with a money order but no monies of course have arrived.

How do I use this type of payment method, or should I cancel the order and ask the buyer to use PayPal if possible.

  • A money order, normally known as a postal order in the UK, are sent through the post, and can be cashed at the post office and some banks.
  • Thanks, this is from a customer in Holland.. do I use moneygram or something like that ?
  • I'm not familiar with that service. Personally I wouldn't accept money orders from outside my own country as it'll probably throw up all sorts of currency issues.
  • I agree, we're talking about a service called ideal at present, which seems to be a bank transfer I think ..
  • iDeal is a Dutch payment service. Very common in the Netherlands but only available if you have a Dutch bank account I believe. Not sure why the customer thinks a money order is equal to an iDeal payment.

Seeing as you won't be able to provide it you should probably ask the customer to pay by bank transfer.
