New Kickstarter Project: InvenStorey

Hello Brick Owl members,

I am excited to announce a new Kickstarter project for a new inventory and order management software application specifically designed for LEGO® sellers. Anyone who has used BrickStock, or BrickStore before it, knows how much time can be saved with such a program. However, one of the shortcomings of these applications has been the lack of continued support, updates, and new features (through no fault of their creators, mind you).

And so, the idea for our application, InvenStorey, was born. At its core, Invenstorey will provide the same abilities as BrickStock but with on-going support for users and regular updates, including new features. But we want to make this program even better. Some of the ideas for new features are:

- Smart Catalog: Imagine the ability to hide portions of the catalog that you don't use (think really old sets, parts and minifgures; or third-party custom items)and adding custom tags to make searching for parts easier.

- Integration with other services: if you use services like ShipStation, Stamps.com, or others to purchase shipping online, you'll be able to download orders into InvenStorey and fulfill them without leaving the application.

- Sync your inventory: the ability to sync inventory across multiple marketplaces, or even your own website.

- iPhone/Android App: after the main application is completed, the addition of a smartphone app that will allow you to scan inventory into the application, either by UPC or by image search.

These are just a few ideas, but the best ideas will no doubt come from the community this project is for. We know that backers of this project will have lots of feedback on what features are needed for their business. Through polling, live stream discussions, and closed beta periods, we expect to get tons of new feature ideas to add to InvenStorey.

Please take the time to check out our Kickstarter project and send us any questions or feedback you have.

Brick Owl has blossomed due to its ability to respond to community feedback and implement changes. We hope to be able to replicate that success with our project.

Thanks,
Mike

  • Looks pretty interesting. What's the difference between the Seller and the Seller Pro edition?

Our vision for the different versions of this are as follows:

Hobby Edition - Think of this as essentially BrickStock. If you can do it currently with BrickStock, you'll be able to do it in the Hobby Edition. This version will always be free.

Seller Edition - This edition has everything you can do with the Hobby Edition, but adds functionality useful specifically to sellers: sales reports, integration with shipping applications, and other features that exist outside of the marketplace APIs.

Seller Pro Edition - This edition has all the features of the previous versions, but adds more marketplaces to the inventory management functionality (think Amazon, eBay, or your own store hosted on sites like Shopify or with WooCommerce). Support for importing/exporting financial data between applications like QuickBooks is also planned.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask here or you can check out our website and send us an email.

    Thanks,
    Mike
  • Interesting but I'd like to see something already up and running and at least somewhat working.
It also sounds like a lot of the features would only apply to US sellers.

Currently, most of the features planned for the Seller and Seller Pro Edition would most likely primarily benefit US sellers. However, the base version (Hobby Edition), will have all the current functionality of BrickStock, plus a few other features that we are kicking around. One that may be of particular use to sellers outside of the US is adapting InvenStorey to use the Euro/Pound price guide in addition to the US one, and adding more functionality around exchange rates, etc.

    Thanks,
    Mike
  • Supporting foreign currency's would be great, do keep VAT in mind though please.

Will InvenStorey be a one-time purchase or a recurring license?

Also on Kickstarter you state "the project is relatively simple". If that's the case, why will it take just short of a year for a beta version to be released with 3 programmers working on it?
  • Can you elaborate on what features the Pro Version has that would most likely benefit US users above international users?
