Stores by Location

Hi Lawrence,

This is by all means not a high priority request. I was hoping for the ability to sort through stores at a state by state level in the United States. Is there a way to do this. Or maybe even potentially in the future to allow input of ones zip code or city and show stores within X miles?

I'm sure this could be done for other countries as well that have providences and territories too.

Thanks!

  • Only if it specifies YES or No - Open to the public. I operate out of my home currently. I would not want visits to my home. For a Brick and mortar Commercial location this would be great.
  • For now, since the crossover is high, just go look at the same store on BL. :D
  • @johnsma2000 I'm thinking either that option, or limit it to only zipcode to show what is within your specific zip code.

Could you expand on what the use of this would be? As in, I understand the use of such a thing on eBay for example when you want to pick up a washing machine and you only want to drive a short distance, but what would be the application here?
  • I personally try to buy local or at least within the same region. That is where I would use it.
  • There are several reason why people would want to do a pickup:
    - It is cheaper than shipping, in Canada it would cost more than $10 to ship some parts to my neighbor.
    - Some people do not want to send money to a stranger and prefer a face to face transaction
    - Some people really need to get the parts quickly and pickup is the fastest way.

If you are considering this I would suggest that stores should opt in to this option. Rather than by state or something like that it would be more useful to use distance (you already have the address for each member).
  • I do not know about other countries but in the US, if a package weighs under 13ounces than the shipping is the same anywhere in the US. If it is 13ounces or more then the post office charges more for the further the package needs to travel.

I believe KyleJohnson is wanting a way to view the stores closest to his location to save on shipping costs on larger orders. Possibly even local pick-up?

    My assumption,
    Chris
