Insert inventory items

I'm willing to develop my own local database with inventory. At this moment I'm in the design phase, so several thoughts are crossing my mind.

Is there an API to add inventory items? At this stage it's enough to have the possibility to add an item and get the lotid as return value back. Is that possible?

There is not an API and the moment, but there will be, I would estimate within a few weeks.

Hi, just checking if this is closer. In addition to insert, I'd like the ability to delete specific lots. I have some duplicate lots that I'd like to clean up and don't have a way to do that without wiping my entire inventory.
