Mobile Barcode Scanning for Apple and Android

If you have an apple or android device you should now see a little barcode icon next to the search box on the left. If you click this, it should take you to install an app. After the app is installed, when you click it the barcode icon from then on, you can scan a set barcode and it will take you straight to the item.

Two caveats, this will only work if we have the barcode for that set. You can add barcode from the edit tab of any set in the ID number section. The second caveat, I haven't tested it on Android, so if someone could let me know how it goes I would appreciate it.

Pretty freaking cool-just checked the only set I had handy....pretty cool! Iphone only though-sorry cant check android for ya!

Also, if you click on the inventory button, it will show you the value of the parts there so you can make a bit of a decision as to whether it is profitable to buy a set to part it out. The data will improve over time as we get more set inventories finished and more Price history data.

I just added a UPC barcode, call me naive is EAN a euro barcode thing? It didn;t match the Barcode on my NA version of an old Advent calendar....

Just been looking here to find out how to identify the barcodes i.e EAN or UPC

Basic difference is if the first number is before the code it is an EAN, number under the code it is a UPC.

If it is the app you are having issues with, for reference it is called pic2shop Barcode and QR scanner if you need to download it elsewhere.

Android still working fine, just been through a load of polybags and as far as the ones which have bar codes uploaded, they were working fine.

If a barcode is scanned and the item on Brick Owl does not have a barcode at the time, could there be a way of easily searching for the item, submitting the barcode for the item, all within the same tab, and therefore continuing to obtain price data e.t.c.

Android version 2.3.6:

Not able to get to the app. I will do a search for it but I want to give details to admin to see if this helps fix the problem.

Okay I changed the timer a bit, should be okay for apple now. If you install the pic2shop app it will work, it's the code for detecting if you have it installed that is messy

On my Nexus 4, it isn't linking up properly. The link keeps opening the Play Store for the app, which is already installed. If I open it from there and scan, it just takes me to the pic2shop list of online vendors who have it available.

ok. So I figured it out and maybe it was my fault?

Before clicking on the barcode Icon on brickowl, one must first visit the play store and download the barcode app.
Then once the app is installed on my phone now the link works perfectly and scanning barcodes takes me to the set I scan.

Is there a way to get a list of sets still missing the UPC code/EAN Barcode? I have stacks of set boxes to harvest them from if they are missing.

@steendorp I had the same problem. I searched for the app "pic2shop" in the play store. Download it that way. The you can click the barcode in brickowl and it will work.
