Metallic vs Chrome Silver

Seriously. This shouldn't probably even be a question, so I apologize that it's a dumb one. But what's the difference between chrome silver and metallic silver? Because then we also have flat silver. I thought, when my choices were limited to metallic silver and flat silver, that this was an easy one. Can anyone put this into words for me? Much appreciated.

  • Chrome is what it sounds like -- a highly reflective, polished silver surface.

  • Chrome is shiny and reflective [think Harley Davidson shiny], metallic silver is painted silver, and flat silver is a metallic swirled ABS dye, so the plastic itself is silver[ish]. Check Brickset's colour page, and Ryan Howerters Flikr if you need more visual help.
