Multiple order batches

How are multiple order batches handled ? Is something already implemented? Does the buyer have a possibility to keep the order open? For how long? Can the seller control the time of open orders? etc

    With immediate checkout I would think that there would not be any order additions. I've only set up Paypal as a payment option though, so i do not know how it is handled if you accept checks or money orders.
