I have taken pictures of a fully assembled minifig that currently has the digitally created split parts view as its primary image. Should I submit my actual image of assembled minifig as primary or alternate image?

From experience, you can submit it as a primary, the digital image will still remain as an alternative.
Correct me if I am wrong.

No very true. And Lawrence has stated before that real life pictures are preferred over those digital renders.
