A while ago someone posted about a data source where you can crawl item data and pictures directly from lego self. Unfortunally i cannot find the thread back, but does anyone know the link to that website?
Forgot to add, you need to write a script and crawl it for best results [manually is a pain but you can use something like HTTrack with a generated text list of numbers], going up levels does nothing as LEGO use these images themselves, and protect the folders, although they are happy for many fan sites to use them freely.
@TheSkirrid you are my hero, thanks for sharing this information with me ! Does it also provide other information than pictures ? Yes was not planning to do this manual Do you know for sure you can use it without getting a claim from lego ?
I don't really like getting my images from BL (crappy resolution, bad photos) and BO images are bothersome for different reasons (must store URLs instead of just building a path from the BOID, images have an added border and lossy/noisy compression).
Getting the high quality images directly from Lego, with BL/BO as fallbacks, is perfect.
I would ask the same question as @pwpeter , can we be sure Lego allows such use of their images?
As far as I know the fan sites that officially use the images [Rebrickable and Brickset] are known to LEGO, and have their blessing. Community relations at LEGO are very helpful with queries, as long as it's for non-commercial use they're pretty hands off, but definitely check with them.
got the message too, there is also stated: (Request forbidden by administrative rules.) so, cache.lego.com works no more (i found it out yesterday, but few days back it was active for sure)
so we have to use the same source as brickset does:
Would like to know about other sources too, but except of Rebrickable, BO and BL there are probably no other stable sources of images periodically updated, i'm just happy that Lego still makes huge updates of parts, even many weeks after physical releases of the sets in some cases, just shame there is almost no inventory 100% complete, especially by new and larger sets. But, still much better than nothing, like in the past, just remember the times befor cca 2006 when there was no parts list available in instructions or web, really bad (dark) times back then.

where xxxxxxx is the elementID of the part and /4/ and /5/ only differ in the render style /1/for thumbnails and /2/for full size.
It's actually pretty up to date at the monment, but the Jan sets usually take ages for new parts and prints to be added.
