Automatic tracking

Hi,
I want to know how this works, because in all my tracked orders it just says "We are unable to provide automatic tracking updates for XXXXX".

Also can I change a setting to tell my buyers that the URL to check when there is tracking is...? http://www.correos.es/ss/Satellite/site/aplicacion-1349167937616-herramientas_y_apps/detalle_app-sidioma=en_GB

Thanks
Sergio

  • This is something that we integrate on a country by country basis, do you know if Correos has a tracking API, or a URL like http://www.correos.es/tracking?trackingnumber=NUMBER

    Hi,

I have looked around the web and it seems it hasn't anything of that, just that website https://aplicacionesweb.correos.es/localizadorenvios/2010_c1-LocalizadorE.asp

By the way I have found that this one works wonderful: https://track.aftership.com/spain-correos-es/NUMBER
And this site seems to have also an API: https://www.aftership.com/docs/api/4/overview

PD: A code for test that is now delivered: RF083344545ES

It is not the official but shows everything perfectly.

    Thanks
    Sergio
  • Thank you, that's now been implemented as a link to the third-party service

    @ Lawrence
Would it be possible to implement more then 1 service per country and allow sellers to select the service they are using for a particular order?
For instance you've implemented 'Bpost' tracking for Belgium (works great), but I also use other services like DHL or Kiala, unfortunatly, those orders are also redirected towards the tracking of 'Bpost', and it automaticly generates a tracking error. Buyers might not be aware of the fact it's the wrong trackingservice and that it's implementation is website based and therefor might get a little upset if the tracking says 'this trackingnumber does not exist' (or something similar). It would be great if sellers could select their 'primary' shippingcompany, but at the same time be able to 'switch' to the correct tracking URL when the buyer checked out with another shippingcompany.

    Eric

PS, or in worst case allow to 'tick off' the preselected service so that for those orders the implemented URL no longer works... I'd rather have no tracking URL activated then 'the wrong one' for those orders
  • PS maybe it's an option for you to program several URL's in the system and allow sellers for each shippingmethod they create to link up to the predetermined tracking service. If you name the service, and offer an optionbox within each shippingmethod, then sellers can simply select the correct one for their shippingmethod. Technicly this should be limited to a country, I know for instance a number of sellers (who are not here yet) who live near frontiers and jump over to ship orders... and it is not unlikely shippingcompanies start working more international, for instance Post.NL (Dutch postal service) is available in Belgium (Hoddie can confirm), so we would need to be able to select those international services as well if one sets up a shippingmethod for it.
  • Seems like good way to handle that, but probably a bit of work. In the US, most sellers ship USPS, but some could ship FedEx or UPS. Would be nice to link the tracking number with the matching service.
  • Hi could this also be implemented for services in the netherland?
  • Thanks for that
  • @Lawrence Could you re-read my suggestions and find a solution please. I actually got a complaint recently the trackingnumber was wrong... It wasn't, but being in Belgium the tracking is 'forced' on Bpost, but I use PostNL (Dutch post) for most of my international shipments. I really would like to have the option to 'select' the URL or 'service' depending on my shipping method in stead of being locked on Bpost just because I'm in Belgium. We are in a world that is globalising, no reason to be stucked with a local 'shipper' when it comes down to tracking.
And as a matter of fact, why not simply implement a 'generic' tracking like https://trackitonline.org/
It manages to track packages from all kind of 'services' and is therefor much more efficiant.
  • @robernat In my shipping methods it let's me select for each one which carrier is used, and so the link goes to the correct website.

    Carrier Name
    XXXXX
Choosing the carrier can help provide relevant tracking information to the customer

This does not work for you?
  • @stellar Thanks for pointing out to it, yes I do have the option box, but since stupidly enough I have no tracked option setup yet for PostNL (only Bpost) I can't switch the tracking link a.t.m. Never seem to have a enough time to get around to it, and so I decided to wait next price update (januari). Ah well, I guess I need to put in some efforts in my shippingmethods... Thanks for the tip :-)
