Holiday warning at point of purchase.

Hi, I didn't happen to browse to my chosen shop's front page and therefore missed the two week holiday warning. It would have been helpful if the warning had been somewhere else in the purchase process. I feel like this was a bad experience for me, whereas the previous from that shop have been fast. But having now visited the shopfront, I can understand why there was such a long delay. I don't begrudge the holiday that were taken, but the parts were for a MOC for a present, which I now wont have time to build. annoyed.

  • Yes, I agree. There should be a Checkout/basket message feature.

@mle assuming I'm thinking of the right store, we actually don't allow stores to have "holidays" while the store is open, and the store was contacted about that. The dispatch time shown on the right hand side of every page should always be accurate, that way when you are looking around the catalogue items should always be dispatched on a similar amount of time.
  • @Lawrence. thank you for your prompt reply. open or shut does make sense. So I will contact the shop directly and express displeasure.

Might be a good thing to add this in the ToS on the Terms page, as far as I can tell there is currently no indication about such in the terms right now, so how are sellers supposed to know this? (not that it affects me, I always close shop for holidays)

  • On the front page is where I tell the future customer that I will be closing and the days i would be closing but it would be nice if they saw a note like that during there active carts so they knew to checkout before a such date.
  • I'd love to know why stores aren't able to post 'holiday' notices while keeping their stores open. Amazon Marketplace allows this, as does Ebay. If it's a technical thing then fair enough, but why can't this be a thing? A simple banner that says "the store owner is away until xxxx, you may place an order but please be aware of the delay."
  • I should add, I'm not saying that because Amazon Marketplace and Ebay allow it that it must be something implemented here, just to show that many buyers will be already aware of such practices thanks to it being available on those sites.

@Robernat Okay, ive updated the terms, I thought it was obvious, but I guess thats what terms are for

@Hoddie this is the general ethos of Brick Owl that all stores should be easily compareable and there are no shocks when you click through to the store to find out all is not what it seems. It also has the same benefit for the WishList tools. If a store wants to go on holiday, they can either update their dispatch time, or close the store.

I'm not familiar with eBay's functionality, but as far as I'm aware on Amazon, vacation mode is their naming for our equivalent of closing your store.
  • Okay, I support that aim. Now you've mentioned Amazon, can I ask if the Amazon link-up still going to happen?
