Inventory Upload

Hi Guys - so setting up a new store and wanting to upload my bricklink inventory in bulk and having NO luck at all. Have tried:

- downloading xml from BL and uploading to BO via the website GUI- no luck as the lot ID's are not compatible and I have no reference guide for the BO lot ID's (if anyone has the conversion it would be awesome)
- Searched various forums and found brickstore was the premier option but closed, brickstock took over. Have downloaded it, installed as private use - cant import my bricklink inventory into it and cant find any reference or help documents about it so cant create the .bsx file. From a laymans perspective, it looks like its also defunct and all references have been removed.

Soooo has anyone got any suggestions as to how I can bulk upload my BL inventory to BO as I am a little stumped.

Cheers.

Mark

  • I would also recommend BrickSync if you would like to synchronize inventories while handling incoming orders from both marketplaces.

BrickStock can retrieve your inventory to save as BSX, but you need to change from "Private Mode" to... that other mode which unlocks store-oriented functions.
  • thanks for the responses guys - am now up and running with bricksync. A bit to learn but looks like a very useful tool once I get the hang of it. Much appreciate the bump in the right direction :)
  • Next step: setting up your shipping methods. BrickOwl customers don't expect to have to request quotes, maybe don't even look at stores without automated shipping calculations.
  • I like the idea of the shipping methods but the question I have here is sometimes when packing orders, it can be somewhat individual as to how its done. Whats to stop the buyer from choosing a shipping method (and hence price) that may be incorrect for the order?
  • You have to ask yourself how often do you get such an order? You could set up your shipping to account for the vast majority of your orders and then swallow the extra costs for the few that fall outside this, or you could over-estimate the weight and volume needed for packaging to ensure your shipping costs cover every eventuality. The former option costs you cash but the latter option may cost you an order because your shipping might appear high.

The shipping settings are deceptively flexible but it will take a bit of trial and error to set them up; you can limit the orders you get that cause problems if you add dimensions to the database for any items you have in stock that are missing them.
  • Hey Hoddie - I think you have slightly missed my point. I guess to word it another way, whats to stop someone abusing the convenience of the shipping methods i.e. an order of 2kg lego bricks and then buyer chooses this to be shipped in a small letter which is only for say 30g. So essentially I am asking what safeguards are in place for sellers should the buyer choose the wrong shipping method? Cheers.
  • The shipping methods let you apply minimums and maximums, so you can only offer what is appropriate to the size and weight of the order.
  • Ah ok...so the brickowl system is clever enough to know that should a piece in the order not fit within the dimensions I have specified for a particular shipping method, it will not let the buyer choose it?
  • Yes, that is how it works, as long as BrickOwl has the data correct. There are still several parts and minifigs that do not have dimensions set up yet. So, it is not perfect.
