problem with shipping settings

hi, I just set up my shop here so am learning a few things about this sites shipping settings. I have set up some and am adding more. My question is, I looked at some of my parts in the available page and for some the shipping is way high. I looked at a horse helmet I had listed and it said $6.00 shipping next to it, so I must have done something wrong. any advice would be most appreciated

Did you check if the item has a weight defined in the catalog ? I think item missing dimension data default to a high value.

I try to checkout something in your store and indeed there is an issue. It default to priority mail and not first class. I can't recall exactly how I did prioritize them. The only difference I can see is that I have the checkbox expedite set for priority mail.

I saw that I had first class checked as expedited, that may have been it. thank you very much for your assistance, it is most appreciated

Also in your weight bands you should leave some room for the packaging. For example in the last band of first class mail you allow up to 13oz but if you add up the packaging you would exceed 13oz and not be able to use first class mail
