Wrapping 'till my fingers bled

I packed an order yesterday, and my packaging material was more then twice as heavy as the content.
Now you might say: it's not that unusual
My answer: no, normally it's not that unusual, but it is when the packagingmaterial has a weight of about 55-60kg (~130 lbs) :O

  • What were you packing?
  • Darn. :) On the other hand, that's quite safe.

I once placed an order weighting 26kg in parts. When it arrived, the cardboard box had completely failed at providing structural support. The only thing keeping the whole lot together was the two layers of tape all over.

Pretty sure that box can hold 200kg :P

For heavy weight parts orders I typicly use a box with thick cardboard (the kinda that is used for banana boxes), and usually I reinforce corners on inside to avoid collapsing. Last one I had was around 8Kg, arrived safe and sound apparantly. For high valued sets I use Styrofoam plates on inside of the wrapping box (all sides), makes it like a box within a box.
