Be able to report buyers who ask to ship to a different address than the one listed in PayPal?

Had a buyer request to ship to an international address I would not normally ship to and it is the billing address on the order. The ship to and paypal address are fine, but he doesn't want me to ship there. Any suggestions? How should I report this if needed?

BrickOwl's terms require sellers to ship orders to the customer's shipping address. If they want it sending elsewhere then you're perfectly entitled to say no. Reminds me though, sending to the customer's shipping address is fine but bit of a problem if this doesn't match the PayPal address as this would invalidate seller protection.

So I am clear to send it to the Shipping address? And also what if he leaves a negative? A negative harsh for a new seller on this site and I really don't have any reason to "deserve it"

  • I think the order is bogus to begin with. You can't place an order with the automated shipping being computed for country X, then request to ship to country Y instead!

You might want to wait for Lawrence's confirmation, but I don't think you could get negative feedback for a buyer requesting something against BrickOwl's rules.

Make sure to (politely) explain why you can't ship to a different country than the one that was used to compute the shipping rate. Most customers are reasonable and will see how this would be an issue. You can then both agree to cancel this order.
  • Since you are quoting my wisdom now, I'd say use your discretion. :)

We get requests like this sometimes, and they are 99.9% innocent requests like "its safer to ship to my work then my house". The buyer should have updated the shipping address before submitting, but buyers don't always pay attention to the details. If you feel uncomfortable say no, or ask for an explanation. Otherwise, I would just ship it where they want it.

I have contacted the buyer and I am awaiting a reply.

I have always stood on the quote "You learn from the best" ;) Also I have shipped to workplaces/grandma's house/etc. This isn't even close. There is the entire pacific ocean plus land between the addresses... He specifically said to NOT SEND TO PAYPAL ADDRESS so I am a little hesitant to do anything really.

  • Buyer has OK'd to send to paypal address, but this is something I still think Lawrence needs to think about for future orders. Along with paypal address matching shipping address.

One can have multiple shippingadresses on PP, while the billing address is always the same, I for instance have shippingaddresses in the USA, UK and used to have one in Germany as well. It's a matter of setting primary shippingaddress on PP when there is a need. So when BO 'import's' this through PP, both would still differ.

    Cheers, Eric
