Dymo strange barcode?

Have recently printed out a couple of US addresses on my Dymo 450 label printer and noticed a strange barcode appearing at the top of the label.
I tried entering it manually but it appeared again when I enter the State followed by 5 digits.
Any ideas what it is?

Yes, we have those in the UK, it is an encoding of the address, which the postal machines can read very quickly. It saves the machines having to read the full address using optical character recognition which takes longer than reading a nice barcode like that.
