USA Shipping Zones question

Hi all - more newbie questions. I have set up our automated checkout shipping for first class package, easy enough. Now I'm trying to give priority mail options but I don't see where I can enter USPS zone information, which affects the pricing on all priority mail packages (except flat rate envelope).

Any help appreciated. :)

  • Yeah, this is problematic. Even for low weights, Priority and Parcel Select rates for Zones 8/9 are double the rates for Zones 1/2.
  • Besides which, many midsize orders could qualify for a flat rate padded envelope which is $5.05 for anywhere across the USPS delivery area. Not to mention the flat rate boxes which are limited by volume.

I generally charge for the most expensive priority rate then refund any remainder. Not elegant but it works for how few domestic priority orders I get.
  • I have been trying to make it easy for the customers and picked a low median.
Occasionally I can't fit things in a small box or flat rate envelope safely and I end up loosing a bit on shipping but on average things even up nicely.
