Order weight?

Can't see where Brickowl assumes the weight of my order. Had an order that I'll end up refunding $3.60 (24%!) for about a 170g difference in postage weights. I'll try to trace the error later by double checking item weights and my shipping bands. I've left 20g of weight for packaging in the higher bands and 10g in the lower ones.

Haven't tried buying yet but can buyers see cart weight and shipping being updated as they go? Might be nice to know that the final lot of 1x1 round plates is pushing you into an entirely different and more expensive shipping option.

  • When it doesn't only weight/dimensions for an item, it makes the assumption that is very generous to stop you being out of pocket. If you go to the edit tab on any of the items you can update their weights. I will show this information on the order screen in due course.

If you start adding items to your cart, you can then pick a shipping method in the cart, that would then be updated as you add items and you can see it in the sidebar.
  • Actually, it's on the order details screen now for you.
  • Thanks for adding that in. Maybe we can see a total soon so I don't have to do maths?

Total cart weight was 148.17g. According to my shipping bands it should have charged the customer $11.48. Instead the generosity of the system computed it to at least 320g to bump it two bands higher resulting in a shipping charge of $15.08. I will be refunding the customer the large overage. I suppose this will take care of itself as more weights are added to catalog items though.

  • On the other end of the spectrum I went to buy the Rancor Pit box (75005) from myself. Catalog lists it as 4g assumed but 187g was filled into the edit field. Has it been updated but not approved?
  • The weight for that item and others has been sorted now.
  • The total weight on the order details seems to be incorrect. It could be that this was calculated prior to the weights being fixed. For one order where the weight of the parts is around 10 grams the order shows a weight of 80 grams.

  • Sorry for the slow reply, it probably is due to it being calculated before the changes. The weight is stored on the order, it is not calculated every time you view it.
