Shipping options for sets

For sets it would be nice to have a free shipping checkbox and something to alert buyers that the set has free shipping (kind of along the same alert as "shipping quote required" shows up now). It would also be nice to have a field to enter a shipping amount if you want to set a fixed shipping price for the set.

I am curious why you would want to offer free shipping for one specific set? Why not just reduce the set's price by an amount equal to the expected shipping cost?

Because shipping costs can vary greatly - especially for the larger sets. It's hard to set up the right shipping categories that will cover sets since they are both weight and dimension based. If I could set a fixed shipping price for that set or have the option to offer free shipping I could set the price accordingly. Right now I'm having to do shipping quotes only which takes up a lot of time.

Well, looking at it objectively, is that really that hard? BO has a marvellous puzzle algorithm, use it! If you specify the max dimensions per shippng method, it should work. I have it set up that way too. You can build in a margin so you won't have to spend too much time puzzling around to figure out how BO managed to make it fit. If you make it so that the different methods you specify don't overlap, the buyer will not be bothered with multiple shipping options and always select the right one.

Set the specific set to 'force quote', add the free shipping in your 'set description'. If a buyer is interested, he will be forced to ask a quote, you can then provide one at 0.01 $,£,Euro (zero is not possible 'yet').
