"Delivery status not updated"

Anyone heard of a tracking number that says "out for delivery" but then it was never scanned there after? It doesn't actually say "delivered", just this:
"August 23, 2014 , 9:59 pm Delivery status not updated"

Customer just contacted me about it. off to USPS I go!

    I've seen that many times, also. I think the carrier just forgets to do the final delivery scan. It has also happened just before another update that says "undeliverable as addressed" or some other issue.

    Just talked to my local PostMaster.

    USPS just hired over the past 2 weeks 35,000 new employees. USPS as many know is hurting and they have been downsizing. Many employees have now taken early retirement, or quite to get a more secured job.

    With the flood of the new interim positions, some of these new people don't know the rules (or just don't care).

    So a note was supposed to be left in my customers door to go to the post office to pick-up their package, but didn't happen.

    Hopefully this is the case.

    Speaking of postal workers who don't know or don't care, I recently had a whole batch of packages scanned as delivered instead of accepted. The site wouldn't provide any tracking updates due to the error. Amazingly, none of my customers wrote to ask why it said delivered when they don't have the item yet.
