Best way to run parallel stores?

I'm thinking about the best solution to run a BL and a BO store at the same time without getting problems selling items similar on both sites. What do you think is the best way?
Dividing your Stock into 2 identical halfs, or try to divide into articles (f.e. Parts here, Sets/Minfigs/Polybags there) or try to divide into themes (f.e. technic parts there, normal parts here).
Fyi, I run only a small store with about 5.000 parts as freetime business, but I plan to expand during the next month. I'm selling sets/minifigs/polybags and parts (new and used).

We need the buyers to find us, then we'll start to know what sells here best... bit of a chicken and egg problem though. I personally think if you split and make 2 same stores half the size you'll compromise both in terms of volume unless you have huge quantities of the popular items. I'm hoping this site will find a different set of buyers but think back to when you 1st opened your BL store - it was then a case of adding some inventory and seeing what sold, adding some more and learning as you go. If you theme/specialise then at least you stand a better chance of having the combination of items a buyer is looking for.
