In the 5 days and 8 hours I've been a member I've had 1472 hits in my store. To me that is phenomenal. I know that right now I'm on the first page of stores listed and I don't expect that to last (soaking it up). But I am just amazed at that number. Anyway I'm wondering how it is based, and if it is even accurate. I've noticed that I will go for an hour or so with no hits and then I'll get 50 in a very short span of time. So does it change for every page in my store that is clicked on? I've also noticed that if I go into my store I will affect the number. All that to say I would really like this number to accurately portray the number of people who've gone in and out of my store. I don't need it to say 10,000 if 50 is actually more accurate
Also I would love it if the counter could be displayed in the actual store so that it is public info,

I've noticed the same and also think that every page change generates hit, just as views on own store.

It is every page view in your store, excluding those by search engines. We have plans to make this much more powerful later on.
