Priority Mail shipping zones

Priority Mail in the US is broken down into zones which makes for a very large range of prices that fall under the same shipping method here. As it is I just have a flat rate for all Priority Mail within the US but this can mean an overcharge or undercharge and sometimes it is for a significant amount when it is a heavy order. Is there anyway to break the US down into zones by zip code or is this just not doable?

    You can always use the most expensive range in your shipping settings and then refund the difference. Often I am able to get an order to go in a flat rate bubble mailer which is $5.70. Otherwise move to Kansas to centralize yourself as much as possible. Tornado much?

    If I remember right, as Canada and Australia at least have the same issue, admin was working on it and the last changes made to the addressing system were a step towards it happening.

    This my hopeful interpretation of what I have read anyway.
