Minifigures ?

Hello Lego friends!

Can anyone tell me why I feel that minifigures that are not assembled are worth more, or are wanted, than figures that are assembled?, and my second question.... Can you get minifigures that are supplied in separate parts by someone? , see if they have ever been assembled? and if so, how do you see that?

  • A lot of people won't consider an assembled as new. This is debateable, but for me the beauty of Lego is in the building, so if I put a figure together for myself it's better.

Technically minifigs can be sold as new if assembled, but I believe that if there is a value for buyers to do this for themselves, then that is the way to go.
  • Unassembled minifigures are often preferred because many collectors enjoy assembling them themselves. It adds a personal touch and makes the figure feel like their own.
To check if a minifigure was previously assembled, look at the black (or white on darker torsos) rectangular mark on the neck. If it’s scratched, the head has likely been attached before.
  • From my (buyer) perspective I would prefer assembled minifigs, BUT I find it more easier and cheaper to get the required minifigs unassembled. And that is because of the limited selection - there aren't those figures assembled that I am looking for (mostly missing figures from sets).

Now, for custom minifigs - for those the word "custom" says it all =). I want to build my own minifig that often is combination of multiple minifigures and therefor, I buy the figure parts separately.
  • TL;DR - it is probably much more worth and demand for separate minifig parts rather that the whole assembled minifig since mostly (except Star Wars, LOTR, etc stuff)...
