Customer picked wrong Shipping Cost

I have different t shipping amounts in Canada. Customer picked Vancouver BC rather than the Rest of Canada. The difference is $5.00 (this is a small order) but many thousands of KM away. |How do I adjust the shipping amount on the order? Or do I cancel the order, and the customer will have to re-order to use the correct shipping amount.

Thank you for your help in advance.

  • I think you would need to use the Canadian shipping zones on the shipping method. Then the price is set automatically. Otherwise the system will automatically choose the cheapest shipping option. We wouldn’t consider it the responsibility of the customer to decide which shipping method is applicable to their order.
  • Just a note they’re only available of your carrier is Canada post. If you’re using a different carrier we can add it for that.
  • Using a different Courier 99% of the time. sometimes Canada Post for Remote Areas. It says Vancouver BC, he picked it. Wrong, he is in Quebec. The option is there for the Rest of Canada. And its determined by Postal Code to determine if the shipping will be remote. So, my choices would be request a quote I suppose.

Sure, Lawrence add Sendle. I will take a look at it next month. How I can avoid this mess.
  • You need to adjust your shipping zones so that this can't happen. I would eat the cost and post the order out, then have a look at modifying your postal regions so this is handled automatically.
  • There are no shipping zones in Canada. Most Sellers are using Request a Quote, unless it's determine Small Oversize Letter mail, which can not exceed 20 mm including packaging and envelope.
  • OK maybe I misunderstood, but if you are responding to a quote, how is the postage wrong?
  • There was no quote. I had shipping broken down Vancouver, BC,/ British Columbia and the rest of Canada - the customer would had to pick which area it was being ship to. Unless it was remote etc. a Shipping quote would be needed. Having zones would be wonderful, but that is not possible in Canada.
I appreciate your comments and help.
  • I've now added Sendle as a carrier. If you choose it, you'll have the option to use Canadian subregions for zonal pricing
  • Thank you, Lawrence, will give it a try!
