Where to donate a lego stash?

I have a large box of old lego - very mixed pieces, most dating from the 1970-80s. I have searched for some of the pieces here and believe there are a few pieces of interest (don't get excited, I don't think there are hidden treasures, but for example some decorated registration bricks that are currently going for £3 each). Other of the more obvious bits include train tracks/carriages, a modular boat, maxifigures...quite a jumble of stuff. Nothing more recent than the 1980s.
I don't really care much about what happens to it, but I appreciate that there are lots of fans/sellers who do. Is there a way that I could donate the lot to a good seller/home/charity etc? I'm not after recompense, just want to make the best use of it.

My local church has a building group that I donate unwanted parts to. Failing that ask any of your coworkers who have kids. Normally they bite my hand off when I say I'm giving away free Lego.

you're local LUG probably has someone into older stuff

Ugh, what I would do to get those old things . But, if you are into donating, then the most usable spot would probably be your local LUG (LegoUserGroup) in your area. Those are official registered Lego fans and they most likely will find a use for them either in some local Lego event or Lego building or support some charity themselves. I think that would be the best approach for you.

To be honest, I'd be happy to donate to a seller too. I just don't want to start a war!
