Nah. The only thing i can see is that they are from 2 sets. While looking at more pictures i would say they are the same. Just different name. Maybe when they were "created" on Brickowl 2 different people made them, and just did not search before making it. It was back in 2000, the sets at least.
Both Rebrickable and BL list these torsos separately. However, using the Inventory Comparison Tool for sets 6477 and 6478, shows that Lego used the same torso/head combinations (mini upper part 407) for both sets. Therefore the torsos are identical.
If the hands were a different color, then Lego would have assigned a different PCC/Item No. to them as both 6477 and 6478 were in production at the same time.
