this seems to be a huge problem when rebooting the program (on mac via Terminal).
It looks like there is a query that checks for the last version of bricksync on the domain bricksync.net
Unfortunately the program crashes for me. ( when the project was abandoned it would've been better to just hardcode the last version instead of still querying the website :-/ ?? )
I know there are some compilable links out there but also concluded this does not work for mac version.
Does this mean I am (finally) forced to buy a paying subscription for cloud services like Brick Freedom ?
( I take it Stragus does no longer want to pay for the hosting of the domain, and maybe took a 10-year lease because it was cheapest back in 2014. )

You could setup some sort of hosted virtual windows machine, or use one of the other services here https://www.brickowl.com/help/inventory-synchronisation
You could add a suggestion to the program website and see if anyone has a way of compiling for a Mac?

Can you try to set bricksync.net and www.bricksync.net to 127.0.0.1

Good luck, this is a temporary fix at most.
