Ability to add tracking link via API

I've tried to add a link thru the API as suggested and I did not get a successful response back. I did it through my UI so I don't know what error or response I actually got so I can't provide that. But it did not succeed.
Is it possible to support adding a full link through the API? Appreciate the consideration.
