Quote "Optional Note to Customer"

Just wondering if this actually is sent to the Customer? It does not display on the quote once it is sent to the buyer so there is no way for the seller to reference it unless the buyer accepts the quote. Then this note is in a box labelled "Order Note (not visible to buyer)"
I often enter the most economical option and supply alternative options if applicable OR what is included with and/or how fast the shipping is in that note box. I cannot recall a single customer that has messaged regarding the note added to the quote.
