Stripe Currency Conversions

I've only been using Stripe for a little while now, but the two first orders that had a currency conversion I lost my shirt on. This isn't happening to me on PayPal. Is this due to the fact it's getting converted to US by BO sent to stripe and their conversion is way worse?

Thanks in advance for input.

Tyson.

  • If you look at the transactions on Stripe, hopefully that will have some further information to clarify
  • hey leopard37 / Tyson,

I have yet to have a bad transaction with Stripe but I have limited it to only accept CAD as a currency. This means the buy bares the fees to convert the money usually 3-4%, unless you have a USD account to deposit the money into and use as USD cash there is no reason to accept anything other then CAD because the fees seem higher for us as sellers.

USD in PayPal usually stays as USD and is used to make purchases in USD, therefore there are no conversion fees at all. If you were to pull the USD to your bank account you would have to pay the inflated conversion rate that may not be directly associated with a sale. PayPal fees for this are not as high

Feel free to message me directly if this needs more explination
