More BrickSync questions

Whilst things are so slow, gives me a chance to do some cleaning and organization...

How far back should I keep log files, error files and backups?

Then to move BrickSync to another PC, what is the best practice?
Copy the entire "brick sync-win64" folder?
Is there anything else that needs moving/copying?

Thanks

  • Hi @Graham, I normally keep around 6 months' worth of logs/backups etc. I've never needed to go back any further than that. I keep all of the orders though, just in case I need to refer back to one :)

To move to another PC, just copy the whole BrickSync folder - nothing else should be necessary.
  • They zip to almost nothing so I keep them in 6 month chunks for all of time, same with the bsx files.
  • I have done the same, only per year. Zipped the logs and order bsx files that is. They don't take up much space.

To move it from one pc to another, just zip the entire directory and unzip on the other pc.
Just remember to run only 1 instance, so just before starting it in the new place, check it has stopped on the one one and never start the old one again.
  • How far back do you need to keep records for the tax office in US? We need 7 years worth of records here, so I keep all my info that long. It's not like it takes much space, and it's really more effort to go through and delete things, than to just store everything.
  • i have the folders copied with addition of [name] - backup. once in a while i copy all the files to the backup folder so i have a backlog of everything and bricksync is clean again.
