PayPal integration

Hi @Lawrence, just seen your message on Site Updates about better PayPal integration. If we already have PayPal set up do we need to do anything or will it still work as before?

  • Yes, you will need to connect your PayPal account. This applies to all stores. The current PayPal integration will continue to work. We will only remove the current integration once most stores have moved over.
  • Furthermore, I can see that you have two PayPal accounts. You should be able to set up both accounts just as before. You will need to make sure you set the correct minimum/maximum limits on the payment methods again.
  • @Lawrence I've set up both as before, but can't make changes between them. I can choose each account from the Edit Payment method page, but I can only set one of them to have a min/max order value.

It looks like you need to manually create the payment method for the second account. I will update the system to do that automatically for future stores. Just click "Add Payment Method"
  • @Lawrence That's what I did. Both methods are showing in the dropdown, but I can only change the min/max value in one of them
  • I've created the second method in your account for you, see you can set the limits on that now
  • Thanks @lawrence, but they're the wrong way round now. The PayPal ref that starts with F7 is the Micropayments, the other one is the normal PayPal.

Ah, in that case. Either delete both paypal methods, or unlink both accounts. You can create/link the primary one first.
  • Thanks @Lawrence that's working now!
  • @Lawrence I have no option to either delete the existing PayPal methods or create new ones.
Am I looking in the wrong place?

Edit, yes, looking in wrong place and missing the big blue button
  • This is all well and good, but last time I change something on PayPal, it came up with suspicious activity on your account and they stopped me from taking payments. I hope this does not happen.
  • I have a business paypal account under a trust set up in Australia. When I click through and log in to my business account it asks for all my business information again (ABN, contact details etc) as if I'm setting up a new paypal account. It was a nightmare to set up in the first place and I take payments from other marketplaces so can't have any issues. Pleas advise
  • I had to confirm/update all that business data to, but after doing it all I received an email that the paypal account is fully verified again.
  • I am confused. Please advise. I have two PayPal accounts showing, one shows obsolete the other is active and working - I went thru check out in my store and once logged into PayPal got message "you are logging in to the sellers account" so I know it's working. I only have one PayPal account so no idea why it shows two.
  • You would just need to follow the links to connect your PayPal account to Brick Owl. The current integration works, but will be phased out.
  • But my PayPal account is already linked, does this mean I have to set up another PayPal account?

I also don't get the "works better" If something is working as intended how do you make it work better?

Okay so I started with the new paypal integration, foolishly not noting the current API data on my secondary (micropayments) account. And that is gone now, so hopefully I can restore that somewhere from Paypal.

Which brings me to 2 questions:

    - why did the old ones have to go?
    - do microtransactions still exist?

Edit: this has went smoother than expected, but still a bit confused if everything is no like before
  • If you had a micropayments account, you should have two separate PayPal accounts. You would need to link them both. You shouldn’t need the API information on the prior payment methods as we don’t use that anymore.
  • I can confirm the last comment from Lawrence.
Just connect both accounts (start with the normal account and then the micropayments account), for the first just click the blue button, for the second one add a payment method via the green button.
Only thing needed is the login info for the accounts.
After that you only have to set the minimum and maximum limits.
  • I've already got PayPal set up. What do I do?
How do I connect it when its already connected?
    Delete what I have?
    Use/set up another account?
    Or???
    Thanks
  • There should be a message if you visit your store settings. That has a link to take you to your payment methods. Then just click the big blue button
