Nice touch!

Don't know if I missed an announcement but I definitely like the colorful bricks!

Also the BSF looks to be useful too!

Nice one @Lawrence

  • Agreed! It was nice surprise to see logging in today.
  • I'm glad you like it. We've been working with a graphic designer for the footer. They should be creating some icons too.
  • Well you can never please everyone so I have to say I really DON'T like the footer graphic. I find it really distracting and don't think it fits with the asthetic of the rest of the page at all. Sorry to be negative, but just providing honest feedback.
  • @Bricks arena thank you for the feedback. I've also wondered if it's a bit distracting, it sort of jumps into your vision sometimes depending on the page height.

Could you give some more information about when you find it distracting?
  • If I'm honest, it's whenever its on the screen, which I appreciate isn't helpful at all :) - As a seller, I most notice it when I'm on the orders received page, but that's probably just because it's on the page then.

I think what is most distracting is the colours, because they are so different to the rest of the aesthetic. If it's something you really want I wonder if it would be better with a more muted colour palette (blues, whites, and greys) though again I appreciate your going with LEGO's colour palette.
  • For now, I've reduced the opacity to 40%. I may tweak it more another day when I have some more time.
  • Also it does not widen with Toggle full width mode

If I like the footer or not? Not sure yet, I think it has to grow on me (but I mostly don't like changing things (in general  )
  • It did widen, but then it was even bigger, so I changed it back to staying in the middle. I think it looks okay in the middle, it frames the legal text.
  • @Lawrence IMHO with reduced opacity its become more of a distraction than a feature. I liked the feature aspect, really "popped"!! looks more bland/vanilla now.

I'm reminded by numerous discussions here and elsewhere anything "new" seems generally frowned upon. I'm the opposite I like change, at least visually - I must admit not so with functionality, but definitely visually. Keeps things fresh!

This is LEGO after all, and it consists mostly bright, bold colors. Other than sales which predominantly consist of the less vibrant hues.

Also must say I like the animation on checkout too!!

    Cheers G
  • Personally I think it is much less distracting now.

@Graham I am very much for change and improving the site, but not every change is necessarily for the better. I am merely providing feedback on my perspective.
  • I like them and prefer them muted.

Current BrickOwl’s design emphasizes minimalism and lets the content be the main focus. The new addition — whether bright or muted — feels like an afterthought and disrupts the clean, functional aesthetic of the site. It’s also somewhat distracting and feels a bit cliché. This isn’t the hill I’m going to die on, and I will learn to live with it, but please reconsider this change.
  • ... sliding off the page into oblivion!
  • @Graham could you explain more about what that screenshot is of?
  • Oh I understand now, that should be fixed.
  • @Lawrence the "bricks" are now mostly below the page visibility- until you scroll down
