Bundle of suggestions

Hi @Lawrence we have a few suggestions for improvements that limit us as a Whitelabel seller (some of them as a seller in general).

1. Set up consent mode for Google Ads/Analytics (new EU law)
- Without this mode, Google Analytics and Ads are almost impossible to use.
More info here: https://developers.google.com/tag-platform/security/guides/consent?consentmode=advanced

2. Link the "home page" to the language of the site.
- Currently, we need to have 2 languages on the same main page just to target our main destinations - Czech and English. It's a bit confusing and confusing for customers who only speak one of these languages.
- If at least the main page could change with the language set, that would be great. In this way, we could target other countries and bring more sales and customers to BrickOwl.

3. Be able to display the website as "Toggle full width mode" by default.
- The website looks significantly more modern and I admit that I have only known about this mode for a few weeks - the settings are really not very visible...

4. Need to be logged in when clicking on the "contact us" button.
- If a customer has a question, they need to register on the website. This discourages many customers and reduces the credibility of the seller.
- In our country, having contact details readily available is the most essential thing that separates a scammer from a quality seller.

5. Purchase without registration.
- We understand the idea of necessary registration for purchase. Unfortunately, this has already discouraged many of our customers, who ended up buying in a different way. If it could be changed, we would certainly welcome it.

6. XML feed for Google Ads/Products
- Nowadays, the very basis of marketing, which can bring a lot of new sales and customers.
- We're not sure if it's okay to use the data we have in the API and link to our BrickOwl page.
- If it could be clarified or even better implemented, we would be really glad. We would like to invest a lot of money in this advertising format.

7. Ability to display Store Pages according to own settings.
- Pages are sorted randomly in Footer. At the same time, all pages are displayed in all languages.
- If it would be possible to set that when setting the language to Czech, for example, only pages that are in Czech can be seen, that would be great. A bonus would be the ability to sort them at our discretion.

8. More links to social networks, replace the word "Like Us" (facebook) with an icon.
- We would welcome all the major social networks of today: Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Discord
- The icons are clearer.
- It would be great to be able to set up the network according to the location (Czech - CZ social networks, English - ENG social networks)
- We are doing our best to grow globally.

9. Modify the view of the Blog.
- We would like to work more with this section. However, all articles are displayed in one endless page and it is not very clear with larger texts.
- If it could be changed to a more modern blogging interface, that would be great.
- Multiple settings for one article (link video import or other features), don't show it in its entirety when clicking on "Blog"

10. Update import Packeta pick up points.
- Customers keep writing to us that they don't know how to chose the pick up point (the process is different than on most e-shops where Packeta operates).
- Customer must click on " Ship to a different address or packeta point" then to "New Packeta" then choose the point and specify Name and phone.
- Idea: If the customer clicks on delivery to a pick-up point, a map of pick-up points will be automatically displayed in the next step. This would be specified in the settings for each delivery method by a checkbox "Packeta pick up points"
- It can work similarly for other carriers with pick-up points.

A few ideas/questions at the end:
- Mailing campaigns for some sellers (perhaps for a fee). We would just like to use the marketing potential and retain our customers as much as possible...
- Can we help you with the translation? What do we have to do for it?

Thank you for everything! We are glad that we can sell on BrickOwl. A new Apple/Google pay implementation is great!

  • "Can we help you with the translation?", yes, i've enabled this for your account, you will see a new link at the bottom of the page. You can search for exact translation texts and change them.

I will certainly consider the other suggestions.
  • Perfect, thank you!
  • Some nice suggestions indeed!
  • I wouldn't really want any kind of mass mailing campaign option. Buyers already get notifications if they want, when you add parts that are on their wish list. Any marketing list would have to be opt-in anyway or you would fall foul of GDPR legislation.
  • I totally understand that. That's why it was at the bottom of the list. We will continue to collect email addresses in other ways from other websites and socials.
  • 7. The pages are now sorted by name, and you can specify the language for everything except home and store information
  • 4. Would it be suitable to just put an email address on your homepage? The current system needs the user to make an account, so everything can go through the system.
  • 9. Maybe you could add this as a separate suggestion, with more specific changes. Certainly we could add pagination.
  • 6. Could you also make a separate suggestion for this, with more details about exactly what you need from Brick Owl for this. Certainly we're happy to facilitate you to advertise your own store
  • 5. I am aware that some customers don't like this. Potentially we could have a "guest checkout" option that is exactly the same as the current checkout, but without asking for a password. An account would still be created, but the customer could not access it, and would not get a welcome email. They would still get order emails, and could still reply to messages. Do you think that would make those particular customers satisfied?

If the customer wanted, they could do a password reset to get access to the account. If they never access the account, it would automatically be deleted after some time.
  • 7. Perfect! Unfortunately, "All" is not displayed correctly. Pages cannot be viewed in any language other than English.

    4. Yes, we have no problem with that. We just don't want to break the BO rules.

    9. and 6. Yes, we will more specify that by end of this week.

    5. Yes. I think that it is nice compromis for all of us.

    Thank you Lawrence.
  • 7. Thank you for reporting, that should now be fixed

    4. We don't have any rule about sharing your email/phone number with customers. We strip email adresses from brick owl messages, sent via email, because of how our email system works. We would prefer everything go via the brick owl messaging system, but I certainly understand this use case.

    5. Okay, I will add that to the development list for this summer.
  • Wow, looking very nice! I would set the default language to English as right now, i see the site in Czech by default. That makes it very hard to switch because Czech is very hard to understand. ;-)
  • Thank you! :)
Weird, I thought the default language is set based on the language/location on the specific device like on Google.
  • If you set the default white label language to CZ. Anyone new visiting your white label will have their language set to CZ.
  • Oh, I see. I completely forgot about this feature. It would be great if the language changed automatically (If we want to target customers from other countries on WhiteLabel via paid ads). But it is not priority. Thank you! 🤓

  • For point 5, "guest checkout" would be a nice feature, however could it be a store level option to enable/disable "guest checkout" maybe?

There are pros and cons to this and not all stores may want this?
  • That's not something I would do on a store basis. Could you clarify some of the cons of that?
  • I like the solution for suggestion 5, I have purchased on some websites that do it that same way.
  • One of the cons of a guest checkout would be that users banned from a store would be able to bypass that ban.
  • @hoddie that's a good point. I don't think that would be more of an issue than currently. A "guest" user account would still be linked to an email address. So the user could be blocked the same as they could now. And they can just create another account with another email address similarly as now.
  • I agree. In addition from our side, we used the option to block the user 3 times in 6 years of sales on BrickOwl.
  • How would a guest checkout system work with the feedback system. As a seller it would seem pointless leaving fb to someone with no profile, I'm a bit conflicted about receiving feedback from a user with no account also.
  • It's clear for me... The buyer can give a feedback only after logging in - this will fully activate his profile if he wants to.

If the buyer comes back and buys a second time as guest, feedbacks will still be connected under one non-use account (another sellers will see reviews from previous sellers).
  • For point 5,

    A few considerations:
    - I presume Feedback, ONR tracking, non payment counts etc that give sellers a level of reassurance in their buyers would not be available for guest orders?
    - How would a guest buyer appear to a seller, before and after the underpinning guest account is deleted. Following this through, if a guest places repeated orders for a store will the previous order count reflect this?
    - Would guests be incentivised to upgrade to a full account after a purchase say, so that they get their order history etc?
  • Feedback/issue reports/previous order counts would all work the same. It would just be a normal account. When a user deletes their account, the order page shows slightly differently, without links to the customer account. You will likely be able to see this already if you look at some of your older orders.
  • In that case, how soon can you develop it please :)
  • We have made some small changes to the checkout process. Removing the password confirmation box, and suggesting a default username. We will think further another time about making the password box optional.
  • 1. We are actually thinking of phasing out GA entirely, and possibly replacing with a simpler analytics that doesn't use cookies. Currently, you should be able to see how many orders you get from adverts here https://www.brickowl.com/mystore/dashboard/orders_analytics . If you want to be able to track specific adverts, as opposed to just whether the user has come from an advert, could you create something like that as a separate suggestion.

We will close this for now. If there is anything outstanding, could you please create seperate suggestions for those.
