Color list updates

Please update BrickLink’s reference to Pearl Black. It is called Pearl Black over there.
Please update Metallic Blue to Pearl Sand Blue. The "metallic" moniker is used to describe colors with coatings, not the actual plastic. "Metallic Blue" is a pearly color, not a coating.
The new Fabuland Lime color needs "PASTEL GREEN 14" moved to the LEGO Name reference and number. It and its IDs are currently under "Lime".

As for the various pink colors, they are a bit of a mess.
Dark Pink/221 Bright Purple needs one minor edit.
Pink/9 Light Reddish Violet does not need to be changed.

The issue revolves around how different sites use "Medium Dark Pink" -
"Medium Dark Pink PINK 9 351 DuploRose Medium Dark Pink" does not currently make its LEGO equivalent very clear.
PINK = LEGO 16 Pink
BL Medium Dark Pink = LEGO 16 Pink
Rebrickable Medium Dark Pink = LEGO 22 Medium Reddish Violet
Rebrickable Duplo Rose = LEGO 16 Pink
9 = LEGO 9 Light Reddish Violet
BL Dark Pink contains both the modern LEGO 221 Bright Purple and its predecessor LEGO 22 Medium Reddish Violet, as the site does not separate them.

As of the writing of this suggestion, BrickOwl's "Medium Dark Pink" has IDs for LEGO 22 Medium Reddish Violet, which can be kept there, but the color list link is all over the place.

A solution is to create a new color called "Duplo Rose" that would serve as the equivalent to LEGO 16 Pink, used in sets from 1992-1993.

The current "Medium Dark Pink PINK 9 351 DuploRose Medium Dark Pink" would have to be changed to
"Medium Dark Pink MEDIUM REDDISH VIOLET 22 5 DkPink Dark Pink", which exists under Dark Pink and should not be there.

To summarize, the site would have three different colors that look something like this:

"Dark Pink BRIGHT PURPLE 221 5 DkPink Dark Pink" = LEGO 221 Bright Purple (This already exists)
"Duplo Rose PINK 16 351 Duplo Rose Medium Dark Pink" = LEGO 16 Pink (This needs to be created)
"Medium Dark Pink MEDIUM REDDISH VIOLET 22 5 DkPink Dark Pink" = LEGO 22 Medium Reddish Violet (This needs a name fix)

Other changes:
As for 158 Transparent Fluorescent Red and 295 Flamingo Pink, the former is known to exist in at least one part, while the latter comes in four. Peeron recognizes 158 as “Trans-Salmon” and 295 as “PinkRed”.

32554 - 4143787 is color 158 Transparent Fluorescent Red. It could be called “Trans-Neon Red” here, as it is noticeably fluorescent. Rebrickable has since added this color.

54254 - 4278579 is color 295 Flamingo Pink.
53657 - 4275200 is color 295 Flamingo Pink. (This has a printed variant)
This color also comes in another printed piece that does not have an Element ID here (51677, which probably also has an unprinted ID). This color exists under Bright Pink, but it is far from Bright Pink. It could be called “Neon Pink/Clikits Neon Pink”, as its vibrancy matches that of modern colors that use the “vibrant” moniker. Rebrickable has since added this color.

Please also remove 263 from Light Flesh. 263 is still an unknown color ID.

That should result in complete parity with Peeron.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Splitting Warm Yellowish Orange from "Light Orange" would also be a good idea. Thousands of parts have been coming out of LL Florida and its PAB walls in recent months. It does not look anything like the other colors under "Light Orange" and was used in one set.

The new Fabuland Lime color needs "PASTEL GREEN 14" moved to the LEGO Name reference and number. It and its IDs are currently under "Lime".

Could you give some more information about this?

4143787 appears to be the only color in "TR. FLUORE. RED" so I don't want to add a new color to our system for a single old part. Similarly "Flamingo Pink" looks to just be a few clikits parts
  • "Please also remove 263 from Light Flesh. 263 is still an unknown color ID." Could you clarify this? I believe we got these IDs from LDD some time ago
  • The Fabuland Lime suggestion is pretty much the same as the following suggestion on Pink colors. All that’s needed is a minor edit to the reference on the color list.

There is precedent when it comes to adding colors that weren’t used very often, as the site does recognize Lilac, Bright Reddish Orange and Red Flip/Flop, which only came in a handful of parts. It’s not like separating obscure colors from an umbrella color does any harm. It can only help to specify something that LEGO intentionally made different.

263 cannot be traced back to a color. Light Nougat is 283 and has never appeared with a ‘263’ on any palette.

A silly reason not to add the colour(s) imo. Articles for sale should be advertised correctly.
  • "263 cannot be traced back to a color. Light Nougat is 283 and has never appeared with a ‘263’ on any palette." Oh I see, so it's a typing error. That's been corrected.

Unfortunately I still don't understand, do you have a source, or a link to more information? We don't have any information about "PASTEL GREEN 14"
  • @hoddie I understand your point. In my understanding, colours are similar to mould variations, we can never have an accurate database and we have to find a middle ground between a shopping website, and a historical catalog.

We have added a note to 4143787. This is further complicated by the large amount of stores that synchronise inventory, even if we create a new colour, the large majority of listings could still be on the existing colour.
  • Fabuland Lime is missing “PASTEL GREEN” under the LEGO name refernence on the BrickOwl color list. It is also missing the LEGO ID. These are still under the Lime entry. They need to be moved.
  • Pastel green has been moved
