My inventory has 39 items that are tagged "Not in Inventory".
In this forum I learned that this is caused by the fact that Brickowl does not know any sets where this item is part of. If I click on the item (for instance:
https://www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-white-helmet-with-thin-chinstrap-and-visor-dimples) then the tab bar does not show the "Comes in" tab. Bricklink tells me that the white helmet I refer to appears in sets 10497 and 70841.
My question is, how do I fix this for Brickowl?
Thx,

1) Parts that don't appear in any sets because they are promotional items (decorated Duplo bricks obtained from Legoland theme parks, for example).
2) Parts that don't appear in any sets in that particular color (possibly sourced originally from LEGO directly, but in my case not by me). These may eventually show up in sets at some undetermined time.
3) Parts that do appear in sets, but in a random fashion (for example decorated Technic disks, Vidiyo tiles) which cannot subsequently be attributed to any particular set. I am going to include older decorated bricks that may show as either different fonts or languages, and are more likely alternates, rather than free floaters.
4) Parts that do appear in sets, but just haven't yet been assigned. This will also include parts that could also appear in minibuilds, and different mold variations. This also includes some stickered parts where they have a set number tag, but don't yet show in the set inventory.
From your question it looks like those in (4) are the ones you're most concerned about. Generally in these cases I will look to other sources (BL, Rebrickable, Peeron) and identify sets that those parts/colors appear in. Now that it's quite easy to source original instructions, especially older sets which never included a part listing, I will sometimes cross reference against those to confirm the part shows in the build process.
I don't know how 'allowable' or acceptable this process is, but unless you have a sealed set to hand I can't see how else to do it. I'd rather have a more complete inventory that can be corrected by others, to one that no-one amends for fear of doing something out of turn.

I would probably advise against updating these sets as the inventory is a) taken directly from LEGO and b) almost certainly correct.
However, should you wish to update any other set inventories the process is as follows:
Identify the set > Click the 'Inventory' tab > In the first paragraph click 'edit the inventory'
This displays the current inventory for the set. This seems to be listed alphabetically by part name then alphabetically by color if there are multiples of the same part, although this is by the by for the process.
Scroll to the bottom of the list and click 'Add Item'. This will open a new half-window (best way I can describe it - you'll know when you see it!). In the Catalog search field on this half window look for the part you wish to add to the inventory (quickest way will be a part number) and hit 'Enter'. The part will be displayed in the half window in the normal catalog format. Click the part and all the colors will be listed. Select the color and the item will now appear at the bottom of the set inventory (both the main window and the half window can be scrolled independently). Amend quantity if necessary. If you wish to add another part to the same set repeat this process as many times as needed. You can save your work by scrolling to the top of the list and hitting the green 'Save' button, or the red 'Reset' button if you want to clear any of your additions.
There is a free text entry field at the bottom if you want to further explain why you're suggesting the changes, but this is optional.
Once you're happy with your changes, click 'Submit'. It usually takes a couple of days for the submission to be actioned, and like with other submissions you won't be notified, you just need to keep checking.
Word of warning though; this process will have to be repeated for each set you want to amend. I'm a bit old school so like to have a pen and paper handy to list any sets that need changing, which parts and colors and quantities.
Hope this all makes sense!!
But, and this is a big but.

Is not the same as
https://www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-white-minifigure-helmet-50665
And that last one is in the sets 10497 and 70841
The https://www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-white-helmet-with-thin-chinstrap-and-visor-dimples is from 1978 (the year) and so it would be very strange it turning up in a 2019 or 2022 set.
And sets from 1978 are a bit hard to identify exactly which part came in it (at least concerning helmets).
(on BL it is 193a2 and they say it should be in 575-1 and 575-2, on BO those are inventoried with https://www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-white-old-helmet-with-thin-chinstrap-undetermined-dimples)
So if you really have the helmets from 1978 they would not belong in the sets you mentioned
Will get back to you if I think I found the origin.
have a great weekend later on!
