Appropriate statuses for Local Collection

Hi,

What are the best practices when setting order status for local collection?

We have added shipping method with "Local Collection" selected and "Other" carrier selected.

Should our WMS set the order to Processed when the order is ready to collect, then Shipped once the customer collects the order in person?

Is there anything we need to do / can do to improve the communication sent to the buyer for these types of orders?

  • Actually, I think we'll need to set the status to shipped when the order is ready to collect as we only have 7 days to capture the payment and customers sometimes delay collecting their order past that window.

    BrickOwl could definitely improve the customer experience around these types of orders.
  • There us an option in the settings of each shipping method for this exact reason:

    Local collection
    To indicate if the shipping method is for local collection, or has some criteria meaning most people shouldn't use this shipping method. This will stop it being automatically selected or shown in the catalog.
  • Correct, but does that do anything other than change how the shipping options are presented to the customer?

    Are customers still going to receive an email indicating that their order has been "shipped"?
