This would be really helpful, to me anyway, as at the moment I am having to use "shipped" after I print postage label.
so that the flow would be: -
Pending
Payment Submitted
Payment Received
Processing
**PACKED** = order finalized and ready (no more order combining)
Processed = shipping label printed/postage paid
Shipped = handed over to post service
Received
sometimes (weekends etc) I will print postage up to 3 days before dropping off at post office, will have added the tracking info and marked as shipped - buyer will see shipped but no tracking info.
If I leave as "processed" then I cant tell which orders I have printed postage for.
Thanks Graham

1. Initial Payment - waiting to be printed **payment received**
2. Printed - waiting to be picked **processing** (also used for incomplete picks - tracking down a missing part -- so some orders stay in this status, which is why we differentiate)
3. Picked - waiting to be packed **??? (BL equivalent for us is "ready")**
4. Packed with Postage - waiting to be shipped. **processed**
5. Shipped **shipped**
We have 3 workflow steps between payment and shipped.
Also I'd like to reiterate the request for a status of "payment authorized" that is distinct from "payment submitted". The former should be treated as paid in terms of workflow because the funds will be captured upon the change to "shipped". The latter should not be processed because seller has not received funds (e.g. PayPal eCheck)
After payment received we print the order and start picking. we only put it to processed after it is indeed packed and addressed. (credits are given if needed etc.). postage is usually paid at post office (parcels) so shipped is shipped.

@ All: are we not talking about the distinction between hobby and pro? maybe that's a qualification that needs to be added BO...,
and where/how to make the distinction/choice?
NB.: started selling Bricks 4 years ago and wrestled with this subject many times... (whilst sitting on 1/2 years income in unsorted Lego). Maybe start a separate discussion?
